The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore. Psa 121:8
The Lord promises to watch over us and keep us safe. Psalms 121:8 is the glorious assurance of God’s continual protection from all kinds of harm and danger when we step out until we step back in. We must ask and allow God to intervene in our going out and coming in, no matter where or how far we go.
It is a comforting reminder to have hope in God’s protection day and night. How many of our friends and families might not have returned safely after they left from a particular place? How many of them were wounded or met with unknown incidents/accidents? Many of us face troublesome situations when we step out; could be at work, school, events, etc. In our daily lives, we continue to live on the edge of a volcano, and there could be evil around us which is invisible to our natural eye. But He is a God who promises to watch over us, and many times we are not even aware of it.
Let’s pause for a minute from these busy, overwhelming lives and think about the circumstances we could have met in absence of God. Our prayer to God should be to guard over us as He would the pupil of His own eye. God held the Israelites as the apple of His eye, rebellious and stiff-necked though they were in the wilderness. Being the apple of His eye, they were most cherished. And God’s love and protection for His people has not diminished with time. God never slumbers nor sleeps even while we are asleep. Let’s lean on God for His protection and guidance over us.
