The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Seek the Lord

Seek the Lord while He may be found,Call upon Him while He is near. Isa 55:6

But what does it really mean to “seek the Lord”? The Hebrew word here for Seek is (Baqash/Darash) these two words often go together which means seeking to find and take hold of something. In other words, searching, seeking and investigating. As we believers need to continue seeking Him on a daily basis and when we really “seek” something or someone, we put lot of time and effort for it.

In 1622, a Spanish vessel, “Our lady of Atocha” sailed from Florida towards Spain. The Atocha was loaded with so much of Gold from the mines in America. It took months to load cargo, soon after it started sailing off the coast in Florida, a big hurricane stuck and the Atocha Sunk. For centuries treasure was hidden underwater. A man named Mel fisher from America was determined to find it. In 1969 he started search using latest technologies and divers, but he was unsuccessful. But in 16th year they found large portion of Atocha in 1985. They recovered millions of dollars.

Mel Fisher is a great example of what it means to really “ seek for something” but The Bible says the greatest treasure to be found is not silver or gold, but the Lord. Silver and gold, rings and other treasures, will never truly satisfy us, and they will all one day perish. But the treasure we have in God will truly meet the deepest needs of our souls, and it is eternal. So it is GOD whom we should seek.
