The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Good Word makes Man’s heart Glad

Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression,But a good word makes it glad. Prov 12:25

This proverb reminds us that words have the power to hurt or heal. A cheerful word at the right moment can make all the difference for an anxious soul. In this scripture, Solomon writes that anxiety leads to depression, but the key to avoid going down that path is to continue to speak encouraging word, either it be to ourselves as we experience anxiousness or to others.

Jesus himself sets the greatest example of encouraging others when He tells His people in Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me, all you labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” When our heart is heavy, when all hope seems lost, often times we depend on materialistic pleasures as a way out but, did you know that Jesus specifically invited you to seek Him when you are weary? He not only invites you to Him but promises to give you rest. The Word itself is the primary encouragement for those facing anxiety.

As our hearts and minds are filled with hope and truth of the scripture, we will be more readily used by God to bring words of healing to those broken in spirit. Next time you have a conversation with someone, even if it’s own family that you live with, as we may not know all the battles they are fighting, make sure to leave them with words of hope, grace and encouragement.
