All the earth shall worship You And sing praises to You; They shall sing praises to Your Name.” Psa 66:4
What a beautiful way to end the first quarter in 2023, singing praises to the Lord, Jesus Christ. Psalm 66, a song, is a praise to God for His awesome works. This verse doesn’t start with “I” shall worship You, instead it says “All the earth.” That is universal worship. It is a reference to the days to come, a reminder of God’s ultimate triumph over all the earth and His worthiness to receive praises by each one of us.
This Psalm is a reflection of the victory that Israel achieved over Egypt. When they were bought out of bondage, they praised and worshipped the Lord. The song writer here praises God for parting the sea, turning it into dry land, and fulfilling the promise that He had given to the people of Israel. We have a good God, and the One who keeps His word. Yes, Israel sang praises in times of victory but we don’t need a joyful occasion to praise our Savior. Either it be the times of victory, or of tribulation, our worship towards the Lord shouldn’t cease.
In the early mornings, we often hear the birds sing. It’s not just one bird but several of them, each in their own voice, singing together generating a beautiful morning chorus of praise. Similarly, we all have our own distinct God given abilities and voices with which we can praise Him. Let us not shy away from making a joyful noise unto the only One who is worthy of all the honor and praise
