The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Hosanna to the King!

Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!” – Mark 11:9

Today marks the beginning of the Holy Week and is celebrated as Palm Sunday, as it commemorates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Just like how it’s done now-a-days, where Kings and Presidents are given a red carpet welcome, the Israelites welcomed Jesus by spreading palm branches and their coats in front of Him as He entered the city. They gave Jesus this kind of reception because they acknowledged Him as King. They expected Him to overthrow the Roman Empire and set up His Kingdom. So, they shouted ‘Hosanna’ which means ‘save us O God’ and praised Him saying, Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord’.

But, Jesus did not come as a conquering King to overthrow the Roman empire and setup His Kingdom on the earth. Jesus came as the Servant King to bear our sins on the cross, save us from the eternal hell fire, and make us a part of His Heavenly Kingdom!

So, as we celebrate Palm Sunday, let us sing Hosanna to Jesus for His saving grace, and worship Him for He is our Savior, by putting our palms together 🙏 and sing praises unto Him!
