The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Eternal Faithfulness!

If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. 2 Timothy 2:13

Today’s verse is one of the five faithful sayings which the apostle Paul mentions. 2 Timothy verses 11, 12 and 13 are thought to have been one of the oldest of Christian hymns. This verse tells us about two things: Human possibility and the Glorious Impossibility of God. It is possible for us to be faithless; we can vouch for that from our own lives. Sometimes we call ourselves believers in Christ and lack belief when we pray to Him or in His promises. Despite our faithless nature, God’s nature does not change toward us. There are things God cannot do: He cannot die, He cannot lie, He cannot be deceived, and He cannot deny Himself. Lord Jesus Christ cannot change His nature and character towards us. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His Word cannot be altered since that Word is Himself. He cannot withdraw the salvation which he has presented to us, for that Salvation is indeed Himself. Christ’s love for His church and His purpose toward her cannot change because He cannot deny Himself. He is a rock and not quicksand. He is the Savior, Godman, sitting supreme upon the throne despite anyone’s belief or unbelief.

God’s faithfulness remains through our weaknesses. We live because He died. We persevere because He endured the cross. Our only task is to lean fully on His faithfulness and allow that to be our greatest strength.
