But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3
Apostle Paul wrote 2 letters to the Church at Thessalonica and he wrote of the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ in every chapter, he wrote the 2nd letter from Corinth to help infant believers to understand his teaching more accurately in his absence, because false teachings were spreading rapidly. In today’s verse, Paul and his co-workers are expressing their faith in the Lord. Because God is faithful He could be trusted to strengthen Thessalonica believers and protect them from Satan and will not allow evil men to gain victory over believers. This verse talks about the faithfulness of God and also the unbelief of His children. In previous chapters, Paul talks about the coming of the lawlessness man, this evil person exalts himself above God, and he will enter into the sanctuary proclaiming himself to be God. Paul reminds them that God is greater and faithful to His promises who will establish in faith and guard them against evil. Paul exhorts believers to stand firmly on the Gospel because the days are evil.
We are living in much more dangerous days and this will continue until Christ’s return and trample Satan under His feet. God’s faithfulness can be seen throughout the scriptures. Today many may be faithless and false but God is faithful, He will establish us and keep us from evil, He knows us before the foundation of the world. He knows the number of hairs on our heads, He knows all our tears. Sin, death and Satan’s sneers have no power over us. Satan is a loser, therefore in these difficult days, let’s keep moving trusting our God.
I have held many things in my hands, And I have lost them all; But whatever I have placed in God’s hands, That still I possess. ~ Martin Luther
