The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

The Eternal Word

Jul 18th, 2023:

Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. Mat 24:35

We oftentimes are filled with awe and dread about the heavens and the various constellations in it; and appreciate the vastness of the earth and the beauty of the landforms in it. But the Bible teaches us that these are just material things which are made by a much greater creator. Both heaven and the earth are really material and perishable things. Isaiah compares heaven with a scroll that will be rolled up or as smoke that will vanish. Likewise, the earth is compared to a garment which wears out that will be changed for another (Ps 102:26).

What is greater and more significant is the creator God which made them by the power of his words. John beautifully describes that the Word of God was made flesh and dwelt among us. The same Word which was in the beginning with God. The same Word which is God. The same God which shall finish off Satan at the very end. The same God whose name is the ‘Word of God’ (Rev 19:13). And the same Word which shall create a new Heaven and a new Earth and shall say- “Write these down, for these words are trustworthy and true” (Rev 21:5).

The almighty God, whose words are eternal, really came and dwelt among us. He has preached to us about the way of eternal life and his kingdom (which does not have an end). He has given us the living waters and the bread of life so that we don’t hunger and thirst spiritually. He has given us so many sermons and parables, commandments, and prophesies. His words are faithful and true, and are a witness to us about his greatness. They are enshrined in ‘The Holy Bible’ in the present age for us to read and believe.

What’s our response to the Lord Jesus Christ whose words will never pass away? To return to him and say in the words of Peter- “To whom shall we go Lord, You have the words of eternal life”.
