The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Seek good and not…

Seek good and not evil, that you may live. So the LORD God of hosts will be with you, as you have spoken. Amos 5:14

In the garden of Eden, God instructed Adam and Eve, “ You must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” He never intended man to choose between good and evil. God’s intention for mankind is always to seek God and walk with Him.

However, man in his disobedience, brought death upon himself by sinning against God, breaking His commandments, and walking away from Him. But God in His love pursued his children and warned them to repent of their evil ways to live with Him again. Having the nature of Adam, this is true not only with Israelites back in those days, but even with us today.

God is a righteous judge. He is holy, yet He is merciful. He made a provision through Jesus Christ to pay the penalty of our sins. He died on behalf of us so that we may live. In the midst of our evil ways, in His divine mercy, God calls us for repentance through Jesus Christ, and He invites us to seek Him.

The only way to live is by seeking God that leads us to seek good for the people around us, in obedience to God’s commandments, and He promised to be with us forever.

Jesus went about doing good. Acts 10:38. May God help us to follow Jesus, to seek Him, and do good. May we seek His Kingdom and His righteousness so that we may live for His glory as He is with us.
