The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Mourning into dancing

You have turned for me my mourning into dancing. You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness. Ps. 30:11

When psalmist David wept and wailed before the LORD for mercy, God rescued him from going down the pit, He healed him from his sickness and was delivered from a close encounter to death. His sackcloths were loosened, he was clothed with gladness, and his sadness was replaced with joy in his life.

Today’s verse is a ray of hope and encouragement for us when we go through mourning or grieving times in our lives that God alone is able to turn our mourning into dancing. Only He can fill us with joy and satisfies us. However, it requires submission and humility. When we humble before our Almighty God and submit our situations to Him, He will rescue us, heal us and deliver us, according to His purpose and plan.

Rev 21: 4 says, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning, or crying or pain…”. This is a promise for our eternal future, which gives us hope that the sorrow or pain, or grief, we go through in this world is temporary. Till then, may we hold on to our Savior and trust in Him for deliverance, for He is able.
