My soul melts from heaviness; Strengthen me according to Your word. Psalms 119:28
The Psalmist records this verse during his deepest sorrow. Sorrow, grief, or depression has a way of draining one’s soul into the deepest pit of discouragement. Here in this verse, we are reminded that it is not wrong for a Christian to be struck with this heaviness, yet this verse doesn’t leave us in sorrow. The psalmist knew the right one to approach and the right place to search for hidden treasures. When his soul was weighed down with heaviness, he turned to God to strengthen him, as per the promised word of God.
The Lord has promised in His word, in various verses of the Bible, that He would strengthen us on the day of trouble. We can never find comfort or strength from anywhere except from His word. You can either choose to be weighed down to destruction by approaching man or choose to approach God to regain strength and withstand the storm. He is faithful for He shall deliver you and strengthen you.
Have a Blessed Day!
