For I know that You are a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm. Jonah 4:2
What is the speed of God? The Bible describes God as Light, and we can confidently say that He can travel at least with the speed of light. The Bible also identifies God as the creator of everything (El Elohim) and supreme (El Shaddai). Consequently, He can move at an unimaginable speed, beyond our comprehension.
While God is powerful, quick, and fast, as we cannot comprehend the divine speed, the Bible also tells us that he is slow in a few things. He is slow to anger and wrath (Jon. 4:2) to show His grace, mercy, and lovingkindness; He is patient for the second coming (2 Pet 3:8,9) so that He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. This slowness is for a better cause. When things are delayed in your life, let us all realize that God is still working in your case for a better cause. As God’s delays are not denials, let us continue to wait upon the Lord whether He works quickly or slowly, realizing that it is for our good!
