“Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with loving kindness and compassion.” – Psalm 103:4
The word redeem means ‘to buy out’. We are created by God and we belong to Him, due to our disobedience to God’s command, we sold ourselves into the hands of Satan and his slavery. But God is the compassionate one, He loves us with an everlasting love because of His great love, God bought us back by paying a great price i.e. the blameless and sinless blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our loving Savior was crowned with a crown of thorns to crown us with loving kindness and compassion. The blood of Jesus not just redeemed us from death or pit to life but to eternal life, not just eternal life but has made us heirs in His everlasting kingdom.
Just as a King’s crown symbolizes a great responsibility to care for his people, our crowns of love and compassion come with a responsibility as well. The responsibility is to show the love and compassion to the world.
May God help us to humbly accept the crown and help us to live in and live out His love and compassion everywhere we go!
