The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

God’s Correction for Our Perfection

“For whom the LORD loveth He correcteth.” – Proverbs 3:12

Just as loving fathers discipline their favorite children, the loving God chastens every child of His to make him or her better. Having chosen them before the foundations of the world, adopted them by the precious blood of Jesus at the Cross of Calvary, and gave them a second birth with the Holy Spirit, and wanted them to be partakers of His everlasting and heavenly Kingdom, God lovingly corrects them during their lives on this earth because no one is perfect and all tend to commit mistakes.

In Prov. 3rd chapter, Solomon was exhorting his son not to despise the LORD’s chastening or get weary of God’s correction. But he didn’t mean to discourage him, because he knows its profit. Punishment from God is temporal, but it has a great impact on His children. Many a time, we’re dependant on our skill or knowledge or wealth or someone, but there were times where God taught us whom we should truly depend on. He brings to correct you from sin and turn you back into the way of righteousness. Chastening proves love. If a bad situation appears in your life, do not focus on that situation, but instead, have a desire to submit and serve God more perfectly and you should thank God for that situation. David was thankful for adversity: he saw its profit. He said- “It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.” (Psa. 119:71).

Trails, afflictions, negative or bad or difficult situations happen to God’s children because it is: a loving correction from God; to display God’s Glory in their lives; to perfect their faith; as consequences of foolish decisions. But there is mercy for those who humble themselves and submit.
