The Lord your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you – Deuteronomy 1:30
These are the words that Moses spoke to Israelites during their wilderness journey when they were afraid of Amorites because of their big city walls and giant like people.
In wilderness, God guided Israelites in a pillar of cloud during day and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night – Exodus 13:21-22. Also, there are many different situations in which God Himself was fighting for Israelites. In 2 Chronicles 20:22, God brought confusion among the enemy armies when Israelites started singing and gave victory. In Joshua 6:2-4, Israelites marched around and blew the trumpets to bring down the Jericho walls and they won the victory.
These miracles were performed as a foreshadow of what God is going to do for His people washed by the blood of Jesus. Whatever may be our situation, God will guide & lead as He is mindful of us. Even though the Israelites were unfaithful to God, He was faithful to them. He restored them and established them.
The God who fought for Israelites will guide and fight for you/me. He will make you head not the tail.
Prayer: God, please go before us and make the crooked path straight. Help us not to murmur but to trust in you in every situation. In Jesus name I pray – Amen
