“I will worship toward your holy temple, and praise Your name.” Psalm 138:2
In one of the biggest battles he faced, the one against Goliath, King David declared that he is not relying in his own armory or strength, but in the LORD of hosts – the God of the armies of Israel! Because God was with him, he was victorious in this battle!
The name “LORD of Hosts” in NIV translates as the Almighty God! Our biggest enemy, satan, thought the battle was over when Jesus died on the cross and was buried. But, Jesus rose again from the dead, defeating satan once and for all! Hallelujah!
The Hebrew word for ‘Praise’ in today’s verse is ‘Yadah’ which means ‘worshipping God with extended hands’. This morning as we gather in His house, let us worship this Almighty God with extended hands, because of what He has done!
