The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Lord is my shepherd

The Lord is my shepherd; I Shall not want – Psalms 23:1

In scripture Jesus is referred as shepherd and God’s people as sheep. People of God are referred as His sheep because of the following nature of the sheep.

 1) Even when there are thousands of sheep in sheepfold the sheep can recognize it shepherd’s voice and will follow him (My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me – John 10:27)

2) Sheep’s are defenseless and can’t outrun its predator. They are afraid of waters and can’t drink from running waters (He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters – Psalms 23:2

3) Cast sheep can’t get up on its own until the shepherd intervenes and lift it up. If not, the cast sheep will die because of the gasses filling the abdomen of the sheep. Our life is like the cast sheep and we need Jesus to lift us up.

As a believer, our reliance is on God like sheep depending on its Shepherd. He will provide all our needs both Spiritual and Physical (Food, Cloth and Shelter).

Prayer: Father God, help us to rely on you for everything. Our help comes from you and you alone Lord. In Jesus name I pray – Amen!!!
