You, O Lord, remain forever; your throne from generation to generation – Lam 5:19
In Lamentation 5:1-18, we see the people of God are humbled by their invaders. Their prosperity has gone. Probably, few Israelites would have turned away from God because their enemies who worshipped the pagan gods were prospering unlike them.
The current pandemic situation is no different then the people of God (Israelites) experienced. If God is in total control, why the people of God has to die or lose their business or suffer? We may be in distress like the Israelites.
Even in the midst of the calamity the author of the book (Jeremiah) is exercising his faith on God. He trusts in the sovereignty of God. He has hope that God will restore the lost fortune because of his immutable nature (God is love, He is faithful, He is righteous, He is compassionate). Similarly, when we cry out to him for help acknowledging we are powerless, He is gracious to restore our fortune. He will make a way where there seems no way.
Prayer: Father God, help us to persevere and wait upon you for our break throughs. In Jesus name I pray – Amen!!!!
