Today is the National Day of Prayer. The theme for 2016 is taken from Isaiah 58:1, “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet,” emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to return to the God of our Fathers in reverence for His Holy Name. The psalmist says, “I cried to Him with my mouth, and high praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But truly God has listened; He has attended to the voice of my prayer” (Psalm 68:17-19). Let us return to the Lord with a repentant heart as it says in Acts 3:19, “Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” Pray for our personal lives, family, church, society and nation (upcoming elections).
