The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Altar and Sacrifice

I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee. Exodus 20:24

God spoke to Moses to tell the Israelites to make an altar of earth and then offer sacrifices on it and He promised that He will come to them and bless them.

An altar is the place of sacrifice. And offering sacrifice is the act of worship. God demands exclusive worship may it be in the open wilderness or at the tabernacle or in the church wherever his name is remembered, He said He will come to us and bless us.

These are the same words that our Lord Jesus has mentioned in Matthew 18:20: “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I among them.”

At the altar we confess and change so that we can consecrate and commune with God.

Lord, help us to humble and offer ourselves as living sacrifices, to have a constant communion with you. Amen!
