The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Prayer – Fuel for Spiritual Life

“Pray without ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Breathing is one thing which any living being does without ceasing. Breathing is the most essential for our physical life, similarly, prayer is very essential for our spiritual life. For a spiritual person prayer is like breathing, if prayer ceases, the person will become spiritually dead. Pray continually not necessarily mean walk around or kneeling continually bowing heads and closing eyes. Prayer is having a connection, as a way of living and breathing, a way of being connected to and communing with the creator.

Breathing is equal parts exhaling and inhaling. We cannot inhale without exhaling. Prayer is also equal parts speaking to God and listening from God. It is a dialogue between us and God, not a monologue. Pray without ceasing means, depending on God for everything and having an ever-open heart to the Lord’s leading.  It is living in continual God-consciousness, where everything we see and experience becomes a kind of prayer, lived in deep awareness of and surrender to Him.
