Our God is nigh to all those who call on Him.. How is it that, he is near to us ? is it thru a pagan stone or a tree or by any other means ? Absolutely Not. He is nigh to us, through Himself. 2000 years ago, the 3rd Person of trinity entered into Human beings. Called Helper/Comforter. He is the same Person who was present when the earth was being formed and HE is now in us. For us NT saints, we are blessed to have the fellowship of God himself.
Need we say more? PTL!
We also see an emphasis on the word “Truth” in this verse. Honesty/Sincerity/Integrity/Truth. All good virtues to have. Good morals always set us apart on our earthly pilgrimage and is also pleasing to our Lord. Let us cultivate them and set ourselves apart. – Prov 12:22
Importantly, we see the word “Truth” being used in conjunction with the first half of the verse (being nigh to all). We can paraphrase this as being “True to Him”. Good morals as stated above, are pleasing to our Lord Almighty, but not to the fullest extent. It’s by being “True to Him” i.e. by knowing Him, His will, doing His will, surrendering our will to Him and so on. The more areas of our life he takes over, the more He is nigh to us and the further He walks with us.
Lastly, this same walk, also determines, the worth of our Worship.
God is Spirit and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and in Truth. – John 4:24
