The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Heavenly Minded

….seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1

In Colossians 3, Paul reveals the powerful truth of union with the resurrected Savior (“we have been raised with Christ”) leading to a resurrected lifestyle and raised patterns of thought. It teaches us that we should be seeking and setting our minds on things above and not things on earth. To those who are raised with Christ means to refuse the lesser ambitions and temptations of the world and set our sight, hearts and minds on the kingdom of God and seeking it before anything else. This seeking and setting our minds on things above is not instantaneous. This shift of turning our minds from earthly things to things above does not happen overnight but by continuously depending on the Holy Spirit. Putting off things that are of this earth and putting on a character of a renewed man who is created in Christ image. How do we set our minds on things above? Paul says a few verses later, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Col. 3:16). We must keep God’s word active in our lives.
