The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

The cornerstone of God’s kingdom.

1 Peter 2:9 ”But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”
In verse 9, Peter begins with “but.” “But you are a chosen people.” Christians should be drastically different from the world. Christ taught the same thing in Matthew 5:13, he said you are the salt of the earth. You preserve the world from decay. You have tremendous value. He said you are the light of the world. Among the people of the earth, there are a people who are radically different. Because of this radical difference, Christians often will be mocked and persecuted as was happening to the believers in this context. Peter writes to encourage them but also to reinforce why they should continue to be different. In the midst of persecution and suffering for our faith, there can be a tendency to dull the light and the witness of our lives in order to avoid offense. There can be a tendency to begin to compromise.
Our identity is not what we are but who He created us to be. We are created in His image, and He had made us wonderfully to reflect His presence wherever we go. When we talk, people should hear Him People must see His work in and through us when we do anything. Let’s start our day reflecting Him in and through us. This is our identity, and we must rejoice in Him.
Promise: “Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.”
Prayer: Dear Lord Heavenly Father mighty wonderful God. Lord, Thank You, Father, for including me as one of Your chosen servants. Enable me, in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the name of the Lord Jesus, to be a good and faithful witness to You in my earthly walk. May You be glorified and exulted in my life, and in all I say and do, I pray that I may sing forth Your eternal praises and glory, from this day forward and forevermore. In Jesus’s Holy Name, I pray Amen.
Have a blessed day!
