The LORD has chosen Zion, He has desired it for His dwelling. Psalm 132:13

Good treasure!

Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23

Today’s verse is the advice from the wisest man in the Bible, King Solomon. The word Solomon uses for Heart is lêb (Hebrew), which figuratively means inner man, mind, or will. Every choice or decision we make in life comes from our mind and will.

Scripture says, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good, and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil… (Luke 6:45)”. So, we must check what we are filling our hearts with. If we fill it with good treasure, good comes out. If we serve it with bad, evil things come out, thus the issues of life (see Psalms 14:1).

Let’s fill our hearts with good treasure. What is this good treasure? Apostle Paul says to Colossians, “Let your hearts be filled with the Word of Christ (Colossians 3:16).” As believers, we need to keep our hearts diligent by filling them with the Word of God. Then the Word of God will guard, shield, and protect our hearts. Every decision that comes from that diligent heart filled with the Word of God will be a wise one and aligned with God’s Will for our lives. Amen.
